31 Days of Loom Knitting Stitches - Day 3 Marriage Lines

Welcome to day 3!

This stitch is near and dear to me as I am recently engaged and of course learning about the next steps from all those wise and have gone through marriage and more.

The marriage stitch is a symbol of the ups and downs of married life. This traditional Irish stitch is customarily found on men's sweaters. The stitch has four traveling parallel zigzag lines that are knitted side by side. In more modern knits the marriage lines can be used as a panel on your design or the main feature of your design, but you'll most commonly find the stitch knitted between the panels of a sweater or garment.

As all of you know the owner of Bohemian Lifestyle Designs is my future mother-in-law (check out our about us to learn more) and as I learn more about my fiance's heritage as he's half Irish it's important to me that we stay true to who we are where we come from. So get ready, there are more fun traditional Irish stitches coming your way from our owner C.C. over the next 31 days!

Just remember that every pattern and design made tells a story, and the marriage stitch is one of those stitches that with each knit and purl will tell your own personal story.

We hope that you enjoy the stitch and don't forget to use the stitch hashtag #31daysofBOHLDstitches to let us know what you design and share your story if you'd like, we'd love to hear it!

Happy Knitting!
